Have you try Linux?
Some time ego when I got tired of that operating system that we all use at work I started trying different Linux distributions (Linux Operating Systems) and I was very impressed. My understanding of Linux back then was so minimal that I had to go out and buy a Macintosh just to have a main computer at home that was secure and efficient. Two years later, I got the idea of introducing my daughter to the computer world. She is just two years old and I am not up to investing any money for her to break a computer.
I got used computer from my brother-in-law, I had a keyboard and mouse, and the only thing I purchased was an old used monitor for $20.00. I cleaned out the hard drive and install Ubuntu Linux, Ubuntu is a great Linux distribution that lets you customized everything to the point that you feel so comfortable with your machine. Unfortunately the looks and feels are not everything, since this was my daughter first experience with a computer I though that she needed to see something that looked more commercial less special because the day she gets in school she need to recognize at least the basics of the commercial operating systems.
That was when I saw FreeSpire Linux, with the feel and look of a commercial operating system yet is free. It has many of the same functionality that Ubuntu Linux offers and at the same time, the library of commercial applications is very good. You can install any free Linux software on it and it has its own commercial library for titles that are more sophisticated. Ultimately, I am just thinking on my daughter experience with computers and I do not want her to be frustrated so soon. My surprised was that many computer experts are introducing their kids to the computer world using Linux rather than any other operating system.
You can find more information on freespire.org about FreeSpire OS, more information about Ubuntu on Ubuntu.com, a Linux podcast at linuxreality.com and more information here at LuMen Creative Group. Email us your question at lumencreativegroup@gmail.com. Thanks.
