Akismet my hero

The web is getting full of bloggers, I find that so cool. Is really encouraging how every minute hundreds of blogs are created and thousand of posts are, well posted. All together comes a problem that the whole world wide web has, spam. commentaries from adult sites, car sites, and other un-identified sites, make our lives miserable. The solution is filtering systems, and there are many.

Wordpress bundle a great plug-in with the installation package, the plug-in name is Akismet and I’m sure every body knows about it. Other solutions such as Spam Carma are available, but when one works why seek for another. I’ve been using Akismet ever since I started my blog, so far my spam is very low, compared to other bloggers. Lately I’ve notice a spike on those spam comments, specially from adult sites, but Akismet my hero never lets me down.

Recently Akismet celebrated the 1,000,000,000 spam blocked, a milestone I which didn’t existed in the first place, but is there and I appreciate all the work from this little plug-in. Akismet is free for personal use and a paid service for businesses. Of course Akismet is so efficient because is created by the same people that bring us Wordpress. Like every other open source project you can contribute to Akismet by donating your time and maintaining the software. Also there a blog on the Akismet.com site for you to keep yourself inform with the latest advancements.
