Intel vs. AMD, build your dream PC now.
It has been in the news lately, the industry is talking about how Intel is crushing down AMD in a chipset war that ultimately is beneficial to us, the consumers. AMD reported that for the month ended in March 31, 2007 they had a net operating loss of $611 million or $1.11 per share. Part of this is to blame the acquisition of ATI, taking this into consideration and the fact that previous quarters where good for them the company believes that they are ok and ready to rock and roll.
The chipmaker AMD announce some aggressive price cuts of almost 50% making the competition even more interesting, while Intel did the same thing but only up to 40% on some chip models. How this translates to the media enthusiast? More computing power, less money; while these to giants in the chip industry battle for the customer’s money we all win. Immediately you can see price drops on most computer distributors, Dell, HP, Gateway and others are already applying the savings to their computers, giving the customer incredible rebates and discounts.
The best way to take advantage of this price drops is with bundle computer systems, but for some of us, the more geeky ones, this is the right time to build a new system. Computer parts distributors like TigerDirect.com are taking advantage of this price cuts, giving it a great advertising on their home page, with other computer parts coming down in price too, this is the best time to build your dream machine. At TigerDirect.com you can even find guides on how to build you own PC, or maintain/upgrade them too.
Building a computer may seem a little intimidating but trust me when I say that with a little bit of reading and patience you can do it yourself. Head over to Google and search for “how to build you own pc” and you’ll get back over 90 million articles with those words on them. Just peek over the first 10 and you’ll be ready to go, you can even search for video tutorials too. If you want, you can even join some groups with lots of people eager to help.
Not to be an evangelist, but to prevent headaches just “get a Mac.” At this price is hard to resist the temptation of having a pc on the house for media storage, visitors, or if you are a gamer build a $500 machine with a $1,000 graphics card and enjoy. I have built two PC in my life and they are still working today, is not that hard. I have set a forum space on my website to talk about your experiences building a PC or even to help you in your quest to build your first one.
