Where is Photoshop Elements 5.0 for Mac?

Ever since I got my copy of Photoshop Elements 4.0 for Mac, I’ve been in love with it. It has the most comprehensive suit of features any media enthusiast would want on any photography software. It does more than photography, I have created Web attributes, banners, etc, and many slides modifications for video clips. I subscribe to many Photoshop podcast, which has allowed me to learn and explore all the possibilities with this version of Photoshop, even when from time to time I get frustrated for not having the CS2 or CS3 version of Photoshop.

Apple Inc released Intel Macs, Adobe release CS3 Universal for Mac, and yet Photoshop Elements for Mac has not seen any updates. The Windows version has been out since September, I think, and the Mac version has seen no updates. Thanks to Rosetta software on the new Intel Macs, people can still use the PSE 4.0, but with a performance hit. Not fair, not fair. I think we have a lot to enjoy on the 4.0 version, but what is causing the delay?

Premiere comes back to the Mac, so I was thinking that maybe Adobe was waiting to release Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements as a bundle like the one they have available for Windows. Who knows, maybe Photoshop Elements is not profitable for them. There is no substitute, there is no other software for the price that lets you do so much, you can try Gimp, an open source project that looks like Photoshop but you experience may not be as good as with the Adobe solution.

Maybe all a Mac geek should do is save a couple bucks and get Photoshop full version, I found that difficult especially with people like me, on a budget. If I had the money for to buy that, I wouldn’t be complaining on the first place. Many things are changing for the Mac platform, Apple is doing a great job keeping us enthusiastic enough to stick around. As for Adobe, I sent them an Email asking for PSE 5.0 for Mac, no response yet.

Share your thoughts with us; are you waiting for PSE 5.0 too? If so, what you think is the hold up? Leave a comment on this post, email me at lumencreativegroup (at) gmail.com or participate in our forum discussions. Thanks.
