My iPod Games are Gone

iPod GamesEight of the games available for the 5G iPod (or iPod Classic) are gone from the iTunes store, maybe they weren’t selling much, some made their way back. I remember how mad I was last September when I sold my 5G iPod and got my iPhone only to realize that the games I had purchase were not compatible with anything I own. I’m not even sure I can give them away to anybody, they will become three 4.99 media purchases flushed down the toilet of technology.

I’m enjoying my iPhone, so far the only game I play is Bejeweled, one the games flushed on my 5G iPod debacle, thankfully I did not had to purchase this one as is distributed as a web application. I’m crazy to put my hands on one of those new games for the iPhone, this next June or whenever they finalized the App Store and the third party apps business deals.

I was wondering the other day if Apple is going to be selling apps too, I mean like their own line of applications that will ultimately compete with some developers applications. Something like iChat for iPhone to compete with AOL IM, etc. We’ll see when the time comes if Apple will compete or just watch the App Store grow.

Another, thought that crossed my mind was the fact that they could announce an App Store for Mac, so that you can buy the applications you need over the web and download them as opposed to wait for delivery content. Many developers are selling their application over the web anyway, I’m not sure this will work but is interesting to think about it.

My rant about the 5th Gen iPod and how some stuff are fading out is because I feel kind of screwed by Apple, how do I know that a couple years from now the iPhone games that we’ll be buying after June will work on whatever is the next big thing on Steve Job ideas. I honestly think that if Apple pulls this trick again on iPhone/iPod touch users again, they will be in trouble.

How many 5th Gen iPod games do you own? Let us know what do you think about loosing your games once you upgrade to an iPod touch or an iPhone. Leave a comment on this post, share your frustrations with our community.
