Beware of Rumors!
Beware of rumors, and mock-ups for that matter. After being a Mac geek for a while I notice how fragile the Mac community becomes after a good round of Apple rumors. As of today, I’ve seen the Apple, Inc stock plumb and rose all thanks to rumors. You can find anything from dying CEO’s to products that doesn’t make any sense.
Some rumors become real but in my experience about 90% of them are not, I love when the community gets their imagination to work and create mock up products that play a lot with our imagination but how dangerous are they to the business side of the Mac.
Is enough with someone suggesting that Steve Jobs may leave the company or have a serious illness to get the stock market to shake from its roots. Is this intentional? Sometimes it makes me think so, after seeing a couple of stories of people getting rich after buying Apple stocks when they go to a low time record in price, I’m suspicious of everyone.
This hurts the business, it hurts our credibility, I have people asking me when the iShoes are coming to market, or the iMicrowave. People please, if Apple decides to take all the consumer electronics business by storm it will be announce in stream media, which means that you will hear about it in the news at 5.
In the mean time, keep it real, think before repeating something that makes absolutely no sense. As of this week, I heard about new iPod nano’s, new MacBooks and Pro’s and new Cinema Displays. And they all could be truth and they all could be a hoax, the only way to know is to pay attention to Apple.com and as soon something comes out on sale then you know that is for real.
If some rumor site start showing off weird images of new products, I’m not saying that they may be totally a fraud, but what they are is just rumors. Spread it as it is, don’t tell your friends that you are putting away money for your iToothbrush because you are going to be the moron of the group as opposed to the geek of the group.
There are no better rumors than those who become real, be smart and talk about things as what they really are. Treat rumors as rumors and facts are facts, what do you think about rumors? Do you follow rumors sites? Have you been let down because of rumors that never come to reality?
